Why We Built This Site
Louisiana law makes most government records open to the public, including much of what a court keeps about a criminal case. The difficult part is not access. It is knowing which door to knock on. A warrant starts with a judge or magistrate, so the issuing court controls the charge, the bond, and any recall. The sheriff is the office that carries it out and can say whether it has been served. A bench warrant from a missed court date usually stays with the court that set the case, which in St. Helena Parish might be a mayor's court in Greensburg or Montpelier or one of six JP wards. Check the wrong office, hear that nothing is on file, and it is easy to walk away with a false sense of relief.
This site gathers the phone numbers, addresses, court names, and request steps for those offices in one place. It also explains where Louisiana has nothing to offer, such as a statewide public warrant search, so a reader does not waste a week chasing a portal that was never built.
What You Will Find Here
The pages below follow the questions people in the parish actually ask, starting with how to check a name and ending with how a warrant gets cleared.
- Checking a name: how a warrant check works through the sheriff and the clerk, and what identifying details each office needs
- Outstanding status: what an active warrant search can and cannot show when no parish list is published
- Missed appearances: how a bench warrant lookup runs through the court that set the case
- Charges and probable cause: how an arrest warrant lookup fits with the 21st Judicial District Court docket
- Clearing a warrant: the routes that end a warrant, from a motion to recall to a voluntary appearance and bond
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. We have no tie to any Louisiana court, the sheriff's office, or a state agency, and there are firm limits on what we can do for a reader:
- We cannot run an official check or tell anyone whether a warrant exists
- We cannot recall, quash, or clear a warrant in any system
- We cannot accept a payment toward a fine, a bond, or a court cost
- We cannot set a court date or arrange a surrender at the jail
- We cannot give legal advice or say how a warrant applies to one person's case
- We cannot promise that every address, fee, or phone number here is current today
Only the court that issued a warrant or the sheriff's office holding it can confirm whether it is active, served, or recalled. We can point you to that office, but the answer comes from them.
Search Partners
Some pages here carry a search box run by an outside company. Those providers set their own prices and operate their own services. If a search leads to a paid signup, we may earn a referral fee, and that revenue keeps this site free to read. We do not control the fees they charge or the results they return, and their results are not an official warrant check.
